Mmmm, da ono! Juss like da Maui-style sherbet known as Guri Guri! I got this recipe from the archives of the Honolulu Star Bulletin. What a fabulous recipe! So light, yet creamy! In place of the Strawberry soda that it called for, I used Guava soda! Enjoy sherbet lovers....who cares if its 30 degrees on the east coast! It's GOODIE GOODIE time!
2 - 12oz bottles of Guava Soda (Goya brand)
1 - 12oz can of 7 up
1 - 14oz can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
Ice Cream Maker
Add all ingredients into a blender. With cover tightly on, pulse cautiously! DO NOT BLEND! The condensed milk is so thick and the "Blend" mode is so high that it will cause an eruption! Ask me how I know! So "pulse" cautiously until well blended.
Add to ice cream maker and follow manufacturers directions. I have a Kitchen Aid Ice Cream Maker attachment and this step of the process took approximately 30 minutes.
When done, transfer to plastic container using a rubber spatula and freeze overnight.
**Goya also makes these other ono-licious flavored sodas: Apple, Coconut, Cola Champagne, Fruit Punch, Guarana, Ginger Beer, Grape, Lemon-Lime, Mandarin Orange, Pineapple, Sangria, Strawberry and Tamarind.
